We know our members. That's why we're serving Aspen, your way.
Best place to relax and read
Get lost in the Explorer Book Store at 221 East Main Street in Aspen where the staff changes its top 10 staff picks every week. Grab a cappuccino and read upstairs at the bookstore or take a blanket or pack style chair from your residence and read in the fresh mountain air.
Best 30-minute running route
Start with a stretching and deep breathing routine at Herron Park (103 Neale Ave. in Aspen). Then hop on the Rio Grande Trail, which runs through the park and passes the Art Museum, the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, and continues for several miles along the Roaring Fork River. Retrace your route for a second look and cool off with a splash from Herron Park's calm river outlet.
Best place for live entertainment
Stroll through Aspen in the summer and just listen. You'll hear the talented Aspen Music Festival students practicing their music right on the street. However, the place to be for live entertainment is at Belly Up at 450 S. Galena Street in Aspen. Over the years, Belly Up has invited such stage talent as Ben Harper, Snoop Dogg, Jonny Lang, and tribute bands highlighting Michael Jackson and the Beatles.
Best intense hike or trail run
The Ute Trail is an intense hike or trail run, but the views become the reward. Parts of the trail are steep, which makes this not entirely suitable for kids. However, you can take the Silver Queen Gondola up Aspen Mountain and hike down one of several trails back down to the valley, including connections to Ute Trail.
Best cup of coffee
We like Peaches at the corner of Galena and Hopkins. You'll run into locals and visitors alike grabbing delicious breakfast treats and a cup of coffee. Take a seat on the patio and enjoy some eventful people watching.
Best afternoon escape for families
The whole family can spend an afternoon at the Aspen Art Museum, located near the scenic Rio Grande Trail in the heart of Aspen. To make it more adventurous, you can snowshoe to the museum and attend several art workshops and public lectures. Admission is free.
