Located on 8,000+ acres in Granby, where the Colorado River runs off the Continental Divide and winds its way through mountain valleys and the White River National Forest, C Lazy U is a land of lush green meadows; bright blue skies and fresh, clean air.
Touring the Best of Colorado - A 7-day Itinerary
Like all our vacations, you can expect "five-spur service" every step of the way. The staff members at the C Lazy U Ranch are firm believers in good, old-fashioned wholesome family vacations, and they go out of their way to welcome each member of your family and ensure everyone has memories of a lifetime.
C Lazy U offers 40 accommodations that vary in size and decor. You will stay in beautifully appointed, spacious rooms, recently remodeled to include updated designs and iHome docking stations. The residences are scattered across the hillside and are all within walking distance of the Main Lodge. Children's rooms offer twin beds or bunk beds, while deluxe rooms are typically larger and some have fireplaces.
With a history beginning in the early 20th century, C Lazy U is one of the few remaining ranches in America that offers luxurious accommodations and gourmet food. Its mission is to provide an environment that fosters the spirit of adventure and camaraderie, far from the stress of everyday life, creating family memories that last forever.
Day 1 Home/C Lazy U
Please note that this is a sample itinerary. Itineraries are highly customizable so that members may choose the activities they prefer. During the summer months, there is a 7-night stay requirement and during the winter, there is a two night minimum. Day 1: Fly into Denver International Airport or another nearby airport and ride through the majestic Rocky Mountains to C Lazy U Guest Ranch & Resort. The friendly staff will welcome you and show you to your luxury accommodations. You will stay in beautifully appointed, spacious rooms, recently remodeled to include updated designs and iHome docking stations.
Day 2-3 C Lazy U
After breakfast with your family, an experienced wrangler will match you with a horse that fits your personality and skill level. As a premier horseback riding ranch in Colorado, C Lazy U offers a variety of riding activities, based on your riding ability and age. The head wrangler interviews you and each member of your family to learn about everyone's riding experience and then hand selects an appropriate horse from a herd of over 175. After you are introduced to your horse, you can immediately begin to develop a special relationship. You can take riding lessons, go on cattle drives, engage in one-on-one clinics and take part in half-day or whole-day trail rides.
When you're not in the saddle, you can swim in the refreshing pool or hot tub, go hiking, biking or fishing, play tennis, or go trap or archery shooting. While the kids eat dinner with their counselors and their newfound friends, you can swap stories with other adults over Rocky Mountain trout or rosemary rack of lamb before indulging in decadent desserts and after-dinner drinks by the fire.
Day 4 C Lazy U
Take a day for yourself and relax with a facial, massage, manicure, pedicure or other spa service at the Lazy You Spa. Or, opt for the "Cowboy Soak," a relaxing moonlit soak in deep copper tubs overlooking Willow Creek - complete with champagne and strawberries. The Lazy U Spa is a one-of-a-kind design offers rejuvenating treatments in heated, slate-floor tents complete with wood-burning stoves and wondrous Colorado views. An onsite fitness facility is also available if you wish to lift weights or elevate your heart rate on a variety of cardio machines.
Meet up with your family just in time for the weekly family cookout, followed by the nightly family activity, where you spend time with your loved ones and eat ice cream and enjoyed optional programmed events at the Patio House.
Day 5-6 C Lazy U
Spend your days finding action and adventure. In summertime, participate in cattle drives and other cowboy adventures. You might learn the basics of fly fishing on our pond or venture out to private sections of the Fraser River and Colorado River to catch rainbow, brook and brown trout. Or try the ropes course, which has two levels and includes a climbing wall, leap of faith, playpen, spider web, log bridge and lava boxes. And the zip line is a favorite for both kids and adults!
In wintertime, take a ride down the private luge run, play ice hockey or go snowshoeing. One favorite is an afternoon of snowcat skiing. Explore the pristine backcountry of the ranch on skis and enjoy hot chocolate and warm cookies in our potbelly-stove-heated warming tent. Snowcat skiing is like having your own private ski lift.
Day 7 C Lazy U/Home
After a fun-filled week, your family can take the great shuttle service provided by C Lazy u or a private car service recommended by your Personal Vacation Advisor. But before you head to the airport, tip your hat to C Lazy U -- and then head home with Wild West memories to share!
