Concierge Pick: Restaurant Prévôt
In Cavaillon, Master Chef Prévôt's restaurant doesn't merely reflect local produce; it celebrates it with themed monthly menus. You'll be surprised at the innovative creations based on that month's harvest, whether it's the asparagus in March or the wild mushrooms and chestnuts of autumn. My personal favorite: the melon-inspired menus of July, which burst with creative flavors. Chef Prévôt is celebrated in France, and you'll find this restaurant a true delight.
Wine Tasting with Inspirato
Simply step outside the front door of your chateau to discover the wines of Provence. You can travel from vineyard to vineyard that easily. There are a number of convenient wineries, both large and intimate, and your Destination Concierge is happy to give you an overview. Tastings are usually free.
Some of our favorites include the world-renowned wines from Chateauneuf-du-Pape, where the idea of "Appelation Controlée" was born. We also love the more sophisticated but "big" wines from theLuberon Valley, which are all just a short drive away. And we recommend a visit to Chateau Val Joanisin Pertuis, where you can combine a winery tour and tasting with a visit to a nationally classed Flower Garden on the property that once, reputedly, belonged to Julius Caesar personally!
Insider Tip: Dining in Avignon
We highly recommend a day trip to Avignon, and if you go, there are two restaurants we suggest.
Christian Etienne
The inventive fare here has earned a Michelin star, but the prices are surprisingly reasonable and the atmosphere decidedly relaxed for such a renowned restaurant. You'll enjoy the congenial chef's warm welcome and thetrompe l'oeilpaintings that decorate the walls, but most of all you'll appreciate dishes like monkfish medallions with crusted watercress and seared rabbit with garlic confit.
La Moutardier du Pape
Overlooking the Palais des Papes, La Moutardier delights with ambiance and cuisine alike. Friendly, impeccable service will help non-French speakers with the menu, which delivers some of the best versions of classic French cuisine you'll find.
Inspirato Presents: The Meal You'll Remember
There are a number of wonderful restaurants in Provence, but Les Claparèdes by Edouard Loubet is a gastronomic event. With one meal, you'll understand why Chef Loubet has received two Michelin stars. He cultivates an impressive garden of herbs, fruits and vegetables, so that the smoked rack of lamb, for example, is infused with thyme he grew. You may be tempted by such selections as foie gras two ways and roasted sea bass with a sage infusion. Fortunately for Inspirato members, this celebrated restaurant is just minutes from your chateau. Les Claparèdes is an indulgence, and one that your Destination Concierge is happy to arrange. Your tasted buds will thank you.
