5 Lowcountry Destinations to Explore with Inspirato

The area of the United States known as Lowcountry encompasses the marshy coastal regions of southern South Carolina and eastern Georgia, as well as the many islands situated just off these shores. Lowcountry harks back to the family vacations of yesteryear and was made for getting away from it all. Located on the coast, Lowcountry attracts travelers who want to spend lazy days on a boat, lounging on miles of sunny beaches, and feasting on signature cuisine.

Inspirato Members love the club’s destinations throughout Lowcountry for all of the above reasons, and our charming accommodations and Southern hospitality are icing on the cake. Learn more about Inspirato’s Lowcountry offerings, all of which are perfect for family getaways any time of the year.

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Beloved by generations of families, Hilton Head is a golfer’s paradise. At just 42 square miles, it boasts 24 championship courses designed by masters of the game like Pete Dye and Robert Trent Jones, resulting in more than 1 million rounds of golf played on the island every year. Off the links, Hilton Head has activities for all ages, from kayaking and canoeing to even a zip line.

As the island is a mecca for families, Inspirato offers members large residences that can accommodate as many as 14 people. These spacious homes come complete with crowd-pleasing amenities such as private pools and grills. The club also partners with The Inn & Club at Harbour Town, declared one of the Top 10 Resorts in the South by Condé Nast Traveler.

Isle of Palms, South Carolina

Isle of Palms is located just 40 minutes outside of Charleston but feels like a whole world away. The secluded destination is ideal for a laid-back vacation full of strolls on the beach, kayaking through the marshes, and spotting dolphins, sea turtles, and other native wildlife. The short drive to Charleston’s award-winning restaurants and high-end shops is a convenient way to add a dose of action to an otherwise relaxing itinerary.

Inspirato’s residences in Isle of Palms are the perfect places to stay on the island. Located close to — or even right on — the water, these accommodations feature everything members need for an al fresco get-together.

Kiawah Island, South Carolina

Activities for the whole family abound on Kiawah Island, one of the most acclaimed luxury resorts in the country. Its star attractions are its five championship golf courses, including the legendary Ocean Course, which has hosted multiple PGA Championships. But Kiawah also boasts top-rated tennis facilities, a five-star spa, fine dining (the Ocean Room and Atlantic Room restaurants are not to be missed), and 10 miles of private beaches. Inspirato Members love to rent bikes and cruise along Kiawah’s 31 miles of trails through windswept dunes and vegetation.

Inspired by classic antebellum design, Inspirato’s accommodations on Kiawah are large enough for groups and multi-generation families. Alternatively, Inspirato Members can stay at the venerable Sanctuary Hotel right on the beach.

Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina

A meticulously master-planned community, Palmetto Bluff’s natural setting is as pristine as its man-made facilities. Rivers, streams, and lagoons crisscross the resort’s more than 20,000 acres of land among the habitat of more than 100 species of birds. The sleepy atmosphere is tailor-made for reconnecting with loved ones over cherished activities like yard games, bike rides, and evening walks. Kids won’t go bored: the resort has two swimming pools and special programming for all ages. Visit Savannah, Georgia – a quintessential Southern city just a 30-minute drive away – for an easy day trip.

Inspirato Members stay in charming residences surrounded by lush foliage. Gather the group for a meal in the gourmet kitchen, sip coffee on the porch, and relax. This is what a Palmetto Bluff vacation is all about.

Sea Island, Georgia

The awards poured upon Sea Island are incredible. Its crowning achievement? It’s the only resort in the world to achieve four Forbes Five Stars — for two of its hotels, the Cloister Spa, and The Georgian Room restaurant — nine years in a row. While those are all must-dos, everything at this family-oriented resort is worth adding to an itinerary. Sea Island offers an elaborate beach club on 5 miles of private beach, three golf courses, an equestrian center, and fantastic children’s programs, just to name a few of the many activities available.

We had never heard of Sea Island prior to joining Inspirato. We’ve now gone there twice! The overall property is world-class. Beach club, restaurants, spa, exercise club, tennis courts, fishing, boating, kayaking, horse-back-riding, gun club – literally everything is within walking or biking distance. The property is exceptionally well maintained and gorgeous. We highly recommend if you want an active vacation that still allows for plenty of beach and pool time.

Inspirato’s cottages at Sea Island provide convenient access to all these amenities. Though with private pools and comfortable living spaces for the whole family, it’s worth staying in, too.

A vacation in any of these destinations is an excellent way to spend time with family and friends, free of the distractions of face-paced daily life. And vacationing here with Inspirato is even better. Learn more about how Inspirato Members make lasting memories while traveling with the club.
