The people

The friendly people of Puerto Rico are eager to welcome visitors back to their island. Inspirato’s on-site team includes locals who are excellently connected to the island’s best tour guides and activity vendors. Visiting Puerto Rico and these local businesses is an excellent way to support recovery efforts.

Our concierge made sure to check in on us every day to make sure we were having a fabulous trip! We were traveling with two little girls and she brought them a surprise almost every day, from small toys to an ice cream buffet. When the trip was over our girls didn’t want to leave. The house was amazing!!!

Activities and restaurants

There’s much more to do in Puerto Rico than lie on the beach (though that is of course highly recommended—beach clubs at both Inspirato destinations are back in action). Golfers will be happy to hear that Bahia Beach Golf Club has fully reopened, and two of Dorado Beach’s three championship courses are up and running, as well.

Outside of these resorts, many popular activities are also open for business again. Take a day trip to lovely Old San Juan—soaking in the Puerto Rican capital’s rich history—or to the nearby island of Culebra for snorkeling with turtles. Some travelers are even reporting that the always-popular bioluminescent bay—a body of water populated by microscopic organisms that glow in the dark at night—is in better shape than ever.

Puerto Rico is one of the Caribbean’s top foodie destinations, and many member-favorite restaurants are once again serving the island’s distinctive cuisine. For a taste of traditional Puerto Rican dishes, visit Cortes Chocobar and La Parrilla (be sure to order the pineapple rice)—or have a private chef come to you and your Inspirato home.

The scenery and weather

Aside from some downed trees, the landscapes of Dorado Beach and Bahia Beach are just as beautiful as they were before the storm. Peppered with swaying palm trees, white-sand beaches extend for miles next to turquoise water while rainforest-covered mountains loom in the distance. Heading into the spring and summer months, average temperatures range from the low 60s to upper 70s, usually with the lowest average rainfall of the year.

Inspirato homes

Inspirato’s homes in Puerto Rico suffered minimal damage during the storm, but travelers can rest assured knowing we’ve made all necessary repairs—and now, these homes are better than ever.

The Inspirato Collection includes homes in two Puerto Rican destinations. Dorado Beach is an iconic Caribbean resort, founded in the 1950s by none other than Laurance Rockefeller himself. This Ritz-Carlton Reserve property spans 1,400 acres and boasts a plethora of beloved amenities. Inspirato members are frequent guests at the Watermill, a $12 million aquatic wonderland with two 30-foot water slides, a lazy river with a wave machine, and multiple pools—all of which are open for visitors on the weekends. Inspirato’s homes in Dorado Beach are located throughout the resort, ranging from a three-bedroom condo to sprawling standalone homes.

Additionally, the Inspirato Collection includes homes at Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club, about 45 miles east of Dorado Beach. Bahia Beach is known for its pristine natural beauty: 65% of the resort is dedicated green space and it’s one of just 21 resorts in the entire world (and the only in the Caribbean) to be designated as a Certified Gold Audubon International Signature Sanctuary. Our three homes are all just steps from the beach.

Even more amenities, activities, and businesses plan to reopen in the coming months, so now is a great time to visit before the usual crowds head down. Explore Inspirato’s homes in Dorado Beach and Bahia Beach and book the perfect Puerto Rican vacation.
