Fresh Things to Do

Featured Activity

  • Ojai Olive Oil Ranch

On Ladera Road, Ojai Olive Oil Ranch is open for complimentary tours and tastings on Wednesdays and Saturdays. On Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., find them at the Ojai Farmers Market downtown on Matilija Street.

Wander the trees. Tours are not scheduled at designated times, just given when people stop by. Gather near the old olive oil trees and wander through the property. The tour takes anywhere from 25 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of your group and how many questions you have.

Tasting room. Visit the tasting room to sample the oil and buy gifts to take home. In addition to its edible wares, the ranch sells mandarin olive oil lip balm and soaps.

Harvest time. Olive trees thrive in the Mediterranean climate of Ojai and harvest season generally runs from mid-October to mid-January. The olives are carefully picked by hand by the meticulous staff of the ranch and then pressed and processed in November and December. A Christmas or early January visit to the ranch means you'll taste the freshest olive oil in California.

Travel Tips

Weather

  • Forecasting Your Ojai Valley Vacation

Ojai enjoys pleasant temperatures year-round with minimal rainfall. Located about 20 miles inland from the ocean and separated from the water by idyllic mountains, the valley is generally warmer than other Southern California destinations that are right on the beach. However, temperatures can vary greatly from day to night, so it's a good idea to carry light jacket with you during your vacation.
