As different parts of the country slowly begin to reopen, we hope that you and your loved ones are staying happy and healthy, and we look forward to welcoming you back to our homes in the coming months. Spending time with the people you love is more important now than ever—and we understand safety is of the utmost concern to our members and passholders.

With that in mind, we’ve compiled four drive-to destinations from eight major metro areas around the country—four closest to the West Coast and four closest to the East Coast.

Here are four of our favorite drivable destinations for our East Coast members and passholders, all with car rides that are eight hours or under and well worth the gas.

(P.S. Wondering when the rest of our destinations are opening for travel? Check this page frequently for the most up-to-date information on our portfolio.)

Chicago area: Harbor Country, Michigan

Chicago residents can explore the other side of the lake with a quick, hour-and-a-half trip down to Southwest Michigan, where quaint Harbor Country awaits. Stroll the sand dunes and catch an incredible sunset on Lake Michigan. Grand Beach Estate makes for the perfect setting for family get-togethers—kids will love the game room, with both ping pong and foosball tables, while adults can congregate in the gourmet kitchen or on the expansive terrace.

Atlanta area: Kiawah Island, South Carolina

Head east from Atlanta and arrive among the palmettos with a jaunt to Kiawah Island, just five hours from the city. Swaying Spanish moss and a soft sea breeze are constant accompaniments on Kiawah—embrace the South Carolina Lowcountry life to the fullest and take it easy with a cold drink on the porches of Laurel or Osprey. Both homes are just a quick walk to the beach.

New York area: Nantucket, Massachusetts

A quintessential New England summer awaits for New York residents in Nantucket, a six-and-a-half hour drive and ferry ride east of the city. Wander the island’s historic cobblestone streets, and watch for whales along its southern shore. Take in sweeping ocean views with a stroll along ‘Sconsett Bluff Walk with a stay at its namesake home, or enjoy an al fresco meal among the greenery in the backyard of Whitesail.

Miami area: Sea Island, Georgia

Passholders and members in Southern Florida will find a welcome respite on Sea Island, a six-hour drive north of Miami. This privately-owned island is a perfect gathering place away from the city. Inspirato’s four-bedroom cottages, like Tidewater and Estuary, each have their own private pool. And Sea Island’s golf courses are currently set to reopen on June 5.
