Whether you’ve got a cuddly companion at home with you or just appreciate an up-close look at wildlife, we could all use a dose of cuteness. These seven live cams have been some of our favorite ways to check in with our animal friends over the last few days.

Penguins at the San Diego Zoo

Watch these little birds flip, flop, and waddle among the rocks with San Diego Zoo’s live cam of its penguin habitat. P.S. One set of penguins not enough? You may have already seen them making the rounds on social media, but in case you haven’t, Shedd Aquarium’s penguins have been allowed to roam free; follow their antics on Twitter.

Bears at Katmai National Park

Did you know that grizzly bears can eat up to 90 pounds of food a day? That’s the equivalent of 360 quarter-pounders from McDonald’s. And these plump Alaskan bears are the perfect example: They’re living the good life. Watch them fish, laze about, and play at Katmai National Park, where the salmon is plentiful and the scenery is soothing.

Sea Otters at Monterey Bay Aquarium

It’s pretty widely known, but we thought we’d share just in case: Sea otters hold hands to keep from drifting apart in the water. See these playful critters flip and glide through the water at their home at California’s Monterey Bay Aquarium with this live cam.

Baby Owl Hatch Cam in Arizona

The Arizona Fish and Wildlife Service has set up a 24/7 camera of its great horned owl mama, who’s been tirelessly keeping roost on her nest. The eggs are predicted to hatch any day now; keep an eye out for fluffy owlets coming soon.

Giant Panda Cams in China

At Chengdu’s Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in southwestern China, conserving this beloved endangered species is key. Starting with only six pandas back in 1987, the center’s now home to more than 170. Choose from 20 different cameras all over the facility featuring a plethora of different panda habitats, from cuddly babies and their mothers to adolescents who love to play.

Kittens and Puppies in California and Maryland

What’s more soothing than a purring kitty? Watch these playful kittens waiting for their forever homes get into mischief or cuddle up and snooze together for a relaxing respite. Not a cat person? This live cam of cuddly service puppies-in-training should do the trick—their home at Warrior Canine Connection in Maryland will help train them to make a difference in a wounded soldier’s life.
