With spring break in full swing, we’ve been thinking fondly of its quintessential domestic destination: the Sunshine State. Florida has been beckoning snowbirds, East Coasters, and families for decades with its tropical-but-accessible feel and variety of attractions, from the swamps and wildlife of the Everglades to the whirling rides of Disney World and Universal Studios.

Rosemary Beach/WaterColor

Watch a Civil War reenactment at Amelia Island’s historic Fort Clinch, one of the most well-preserved 19th-century forts in the U.S., or birdwatch at Amelia Island State Park, a major stop on the Florida Birding Trail.
