Located just 10 minutes north of downtown Austin and the University of Texas campus, the Commodore Perry Estate is an approximately 20-minute drive, or 9 miles, from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS).

Taxis are readily available for local transportation within Austin, and the concierge can help arrange taxi or sedan services upon request. The hotel also offers access to a fleet of luxury Mercedes-Benz house cars on a first-come, first-served basis. The hotel is even prettier than the picture.

The grounds are among the nicest I've seen for a hotel in the States. As you can tell from the picture, it's not downtown, so a rental car is highly recommended.

Austin is of course famous for food and music, and we did plenty of both. Highly recommend Suerte (fabulous Mexican tapas, and a cool vibe).

Spend some time at the hotel pool, very relaxing, and in the very cool bar. The Mansion Restaurant is excellent.

The highlight for me was the meal and Mad Dog Margarita at the Chili Parlor Bar, a renowned Austin dive bar. (Not sure it was for my wife and daughter). Then we saw Asleep at the Wheel in concert, with George Strait making a special guest appearance.

Other highlights were exploring the U of Texas campus (daughter is a first year law student there), walking the riverside trail, and going to one of the breweries.

dreamy oasis in Austin

This estate really transports you back in time and honestly makes it so you never want to leave! Every detail is looked at with design by Ken Fulk, and the calendar of events, it would be hard not to leave! Have dinner at Luties, or in the mansion- enjoy one of the weekly punch bowl specials, or take one of the complimentary Mercedes out for a spin! Also absolutely in love with the complimentary San Saba small batch pecan body oil made in Texas. I’ll definitely be back!

Extremely Disappointing - Ridiculously Expensive

This Auberge "resort" did NOT provide outstanding service, wonderful amenities, delicious food or drinks, a beautiful pool area or any other additions that should qualify it as a resort.

The rooms were dark and looked out over a small courtyard by a gravel road. It advertised walking trails which were really a gravel path around a 9-hole golf course. The staff was not helpful, informative, and did not represent an Auberge property at all. There was not an area to gather with friends except the restaurant. Self parking on a gravel road was the same price as valet parking and was crazy expensive by Texas standards. The only positive of this property was the location if you want to stay in the middle of Austin.

I will compliment the marketing of this property and selling it this as a "resort". Would never go back!

Hi, Cindy. I'm sorry your experience at the Grand Perry was not up to par! For the particular garden view room type that you booked, the storms that Texas endured earlier this year took out some of the foliage—the hotel is currently replanting it now. There are several gathering spaces available throughout the resort, including around the pool, but I apologize if that wasn't better communicated to you. I know your Care team has been in touch, but I just wanted to say that we've noted your preferences and look forward to exceeding your expectations on future Inspirato trips!
