Cancellation policy: Reservations may be canceled by noon local time up to 7 days prior to the arrival date without penalty. No-shows or reservations canceled less than 7 days prior to arrival date will incur a two night stay charge, unless reservation is for one night in which case one night charge will incur. Cancellations will be refunded in the form of Travel Credits.
Maximum occupancy: One additional occupant over the stated occupancy may be accommodated on the sofa. Children under 12 are complimentary while guests ages 12 and over will incur a fee.

Location

Viceroy Los Cabos is situated at the base of the Baja peninsula, located approximately seven minutes by car or 10 minutes by bicycle from downtown San Jose del Cabo. The resort is about 13 miles south of San Jose del Cabo International Airport (SJD), a 25-minute trip via taxi. Contact the concierge to arrange transportation to and from the resort.

Cabo Viceroy

Bike the Wild Canyon, Great restaurants on Property and in Cabo Del Sol, Whale watching in March, Take the Los Tados Santos tour. All fun and well guided.

A Mixed Experience at the Viceroy

Our stay at the Viceroy was a mixed experience. While the property itself was nice and the pools were clean and well-maintained, there were several aspects that fell short of expectations.

Housekeeping was thorough and did a great job overall. However, if we had a "do not disturb" sign on our door, they would still call the room to ask if we wanted service. While I appreciate their attention to detail, this completely defeats the purpose of the "do not disturb" sign and became an unnecessary interruption.

At the pool, service was hit or miss; at times, it was hard to find someone to assist us. That said, I did like the thoughtful touch of being given a button to call for service once a server stopped by.

The butler service, unfortunately, was over-the-top in a way that didn't feel helpful. They often asked if we needed help booking restaurants—primarily those at their hotel—but didn't seem to have much insight into our preferences or visit details. It felt more like a sales pitch than personalized service.

The food and drinks were another downside. While I don't mind paying for quality, the prices felt excessive—$23 for a basic tequila soda, for example. At that price point, I expect an elevated experience, which was lacking.

Overall, while the property was beautiful and there were moments of thoughtful service, the overall experience didn't meet the standard I would expect from a Viceroy property. There were too many small frustrations that added up, leaving the stay feeling underwhelming.

Excellent Cabo Stay

We recently spent 4 nights at the Viceroy in San Jose del Cabo. The hotel has a sleek minimalist style, perhaps to a greater degree than we favor, but we very much enjoyed our stay. Our junior suite had a beautiful ocean view and patio, and the room itself was quite spacious and well equipped. We found the staff to be very friendly and capable, as well as service oriented and effort-making across the board, including the front desk, valet service, concierge, wait staffs and housekeeping. Even though the hotel was busy, there was ample poolside and beachside seating and attentive service.

The hotel is a short drive from the historic center of San Jose, which is a charming and well-kept part of town with a quite different and lower key vibe from Cabo San Lucas. We'd particularly recommend stopping by the small Lolita Cafe for breakfast in the courtyard, and a visit to Flora Farms a bit further away for a delicious farm-to-table lunch or dinner in an attractive garden setting.

Nice place, but price gauging on food

The Viceroy is a well-maintained, architecturally interesting resort in the Cabo San Lucas (San Jose) area.

The rooms are sizable and the staff is friendly. If you get a chance, go to the rooftop bar and have Eric make you a cocktail.

That being said, unlike other Inspirato places, there wasn't a usable fridge, or flatware, or plates, etc. in the unit. So, this pretty much forced the guest to eat at the resort.

The food, while prepared well was exorbitantly expensive. Coffee was $9, and a latte with 3 shots was $14. Pizza rang in at $50. Truffles aside, pizza shouldn't be priced that high. $150 for airport transportation, while a taxi was $30 and Uber was $20.

Listen, like other Inspirato members, I can buy what I want, when I want, and I don't mind paying for quality. So, it's not that I'm cheap, but I felt like I was getting ripped off by the Viceroy. Their prices would have been high for LA, let alone Mexico.

After a couple days, I just got fed up feeling ripped off. So, we had wonderful meals off site - farm-to-table restaurants like Acre and Flora Farms, and authentic coffee houses just a 5-minute uber ride ($3) away.

If you visit, stay for the view, but leave for everything else.

The Viceroy - Our First Trip To Cabo

The Viceroy was "interesting". Service was outstanding. Food was very good. While the hotel was nice, it was very different. We had a wonderful room (we had booked a Jr Suite but elected to pay a charge to upgrade to a full suite when we saw them). The Jr Suite would probably have been too small for a full week. The full suite (Bedroom, living room, large bath, and very large ocean view balcony) was very nice. The hotel itself is very "mod" or minimalist, not sure it it for everyone. I would not call it a full 5 star resort (compared to Ritz, Waldorf, Four Seasons, etc) but it was good. Not sure I would stay there again but depending on who I was talking too I would recommend it. You need to look at the pictures to understand comments. Very creative architecture, set on top of man made ponds, with the pools in the center of the ponds. We used the Spa and it was nice. We ate at all the restaurants and they were good. The Pool service was outstanding. One of the advantages of the Viceroy was its location in reference to San Jose Del Cabo. San Jose Del Cabo is just about a mile walk from the hotel, it's a very nice and quaint town, feels safe, very good restaurants, shopping, some nightlife. It is much nicer to visit and walk than Cabo San Lucas which has a rougher and much younger feel. Again, very nice trip but just a bit of a different resort.
