Location

The closest airport is Marseille Provence Airport (MRS), which is about an hour away. There are daily flights from Paris and London, and in the summer, Delta Airlines flies direct from New York to Nice. Please note, however, that Nice is about a 2.5-hour drive. The downtown Paris train station is only a 2.5-hour train from Avignon. Once in Avignon, it is about an hour to the home. Your Destination Concierge can help arrange a rental car in advance, or deliver a car to the home, so you can drive through the countryside, discover the hill towns, and explore local markets. If you want a car service for airport transportation or a winery tour, your concierge can make arrangements.

Almost perfect

The villa is a beautiful property and and our on site advisor Baptiste was excellent. We dined on site for 4 nights and our chef Ben, was a very talented chef and personable young man. He and Baptiste were big reasons for our wonderful time. The swimming pool was also treat on the hot days in late May.

That caused our problem with the villa. Without air conditioning, all of the bedrooms were hot and uncomfortable in the evening. Even with the provided fans, the rooms were in dire need of some type of air conditioning.

Overall, a relaxing property that is well maintained and if the weather is not in the upper 80's to 90's, we would have all rated it a 5

Wonderful

Late April 2026

Outstanding experience start to finish. The house is even more charming than the pictures, an expansive farmhouse building lovingly and beautifully restored with every comfort in mind. The grounds, pool, and surrounding area are lovely and peaceful, and though it was early for lavender flowers the area was green and lush and poppies were in bloom in the fields.

There is a dedicated bike path just a few minutes from the house providing dozens of miles of car-free peddling through farms and small towns. Highly recommend renting bikes, which will be delivered to the house. We chose midrange cruisers which worked well

Every day we visited a different nearby town, either by bike, foot, or car, you don't have to go far - Bonnieux, Lacoste, Gordes, Roussillon, they are especially fun on their respective market days. And in nearby Goult we found favorite boulangerie for almond chocolate croissants.

Baptiste was great and helpful.

Our favorite inspirato trip so far!

Provence 2025

Incroyable! I spent the most amazing week on a girl's trip at Maison du Calavon. Our Inspirato concierge, Baptiste, did a fantastic job making sure that we had everything we needed for a fun and memorable week. Activites.....I highly recommend the market at Loumarin - it was our hands down favorite market. We also did a hot air balloon ride; hired a private boat & captain in the Calanques to include a swim in the Med; and rented e-bikes. Baptiste arranged an e-bike tour with a private guide, which was terrific. Dining - We had an apero dinatoire / wine tasting our first night at the villa with Pierre from the local wine shop in Bonnieux - knowledgeable, and friendly. Lastly, if you don't eat anywhere else in Provence, have dinner at JU Maison in Bonnieux, currently a one Michelin star, but it will receive more. I would return to this house again and again for a lovely slice of Provincial life.

If only the weather was better

Pros

  • Nice central location with easy access to road and bikeways and a close drive to towns to do daily visits
  • High quality buildings and grounds
  • Comfortable furniture
  • Responsive and attentive concierge - Baptiste
  • Terrific food and access to chefs
  • Good rental cars and bikes
  • Pool water temp was perfect — very refreshing
  • The guided bike tour was excellent and e-bikes were provided and any age/fitness level could use them

Cons

  • Hot!…. Floor cooling is insufficient for the weather we had
    • Ground floor was only a bit cooler than bedrooms - recommend in-room AC units for bedrooms and common areas
    • Recommend spray misting system similar to the nearby cafe du Gare in outdoor areas
  • Insects…. Flies and bees were swarming at times, biting & stinging
    • Recommend supplying candles and other prevention for insects
  • Getting into pool difficult, especially for seniors
    • Recommend adding an extra step and hand railing
  • Lots of stairs to get to the bedrooms (so if you have guests who are elderly or have an issue with stairs, this is not the villa for you)

Excellent way to see south of France

The house was a great treat. Well situated in a small town but near enough to Avignon, Aix, etc (although be prepared for an hour drive each time...) and Bonnieux is a good town in and of itself.

Nicely done interiors, great common spaces and outdoor spaces (swimming pool), excellent kitchen - should have had a chef in for a night or two. Wish it had air conditioning though! The 6 rooms are solid - different configurations, some with great bathrooms, some with nice closets, but all in all quite comfortable (we used 3 of the 6; I think using all 6 might get crowded).

Very helpful vacation planning with Baptiste - thank you!
