San Diego International Airport (SAN) is just 25 miles south of Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa. Most major airlines service this airport, with a large percentage of flights delivered by Southwest, United, Delta, American and Alaska Airlines.

To visit the top family attractions, such as Disneyland or Sea World, you will probably want a rental car (though your concierge can always arrange transportation). Pricing Concern

Overall, this resort was very nice and we would definitely stay there again. That said, the rate we were charged by going through Inspirato was more then it would have been if we booked it directly through the resort on the day of our arrival.

Short staffed or bad service?

The room was amazing, enjoyed the complimentary treats and the lovely patio. We also had fun playing pickleball and hanging out at the pool.

Like many places I guess they are short staffed because service was minimal at best. We had two dinners at the hotel restaurant and both times our waiter was very nice but we didn't see him very often and we waited about 45 minutes between appetizer and entree.

We faced similar challenges at the pool. We booked a cabana two days in a row. We could not get service at the cabana, we would have to go order our food and drinks at the counter. They did bring our food to us but no one ever cleared so we started stacking dishes in the corner. Pretty sad.

A Slice of Heavan in San Diego

We had such an enjoyable time at this resort. Nestled into Rancho Santa Fe which is north San Diego. This very romantic boutique resort has all. The spa was under construction so we did miss out on that amenity but soon that will be another amazing space. They set up the most beautiful "covid" tent for all the dining during this time. They did a fabulous job in pulling this off and making it so enjoyable that they should keep some format of this after it is all over. The room was lovely and the staff was super friendly. Scott took pickleball lessons, I took a aquafit class, pool was heated to make it super enjoyable. We highly recommend and I think it will become part of our ritual to come into San Diego a few days before making it back to Maui when traveling overseas or from the east coast.
