Gorgeous Property, Uninspired Service

We stayed at L'Auberge de Sedona for our 15th wedding anniversary, and while the Creekside Cottages are truly exceptional, the overall service experience left us disappointed.

The cottages themselves are wonderful—cozy, quiet, and tucked right along the creek in a serene, wooded valley. It's an intimate setting perfect for a couple's getaway. Although you don't get red rock views from this part of the property, the atmosphere is peaceful and charming. The location is also very convenient to town; many shops and restaurants are walkable once you make your way up from the steep valley.

Unfortunately, the service level did not match the quality of the accommodations. Throughout our stay, we felt that most staff members were simply not interested in engaging with us, and that lack of attentiveness showed in multiple ways.

At Cress, the host refused to seat us at a different creekside table because it would be "too far" for the server—even though it was only a few tables away. One staff member was chewing gum with their mouth open while interacting with us, which felt out of place for a luxury property.

We arrived in an electric rental car and asked the valet to plug it in; he confirmed it would be a $10 charge. Two days later, we received the car back at 10% battery, forcing us to spend an hour finding a charger and charging before we could continue with our plans.

Even after speaking with a manager during our stay, nothing changed, and none of the issues were addressed. Most disappointing of all, our anniversary came and went without any acknowledgment, despite the resort knowing it was the reason for our visit.

L'Auberge is undeniably a beautiful property, and the Creekside Cottages are a highlight. We would return for the location and accommodations, but the service level—inconsistent, inattentive, and far below expectations—would likely lead us to choose a different property next time.

Great Place

The resort is very well located, the cabins are cozy and well-appointed, and the creek flowing by the property is beautiful. Staff was fantastic, for the most part. And the Duck Pond pool was great.

Fitness facilities are small and basic, but you can make up for that with hiking. Strongly suggest a night hike with Trail Lovers - ask for Conner. The Verde Valley train is a nice experience, and make sure to carve out time for the haunted town of Jerome. Haunted Hamburger is a great place to grab lunch. In Sedona, recommend The Hudson for dinner and Creek Side Restaurant for breakfast.

Only downside of L'Auberge is they are not shy with their food/drink prices. A french press which yielded 2 cups of coffee, together with a single muffin set us back $25 before tax and tip. Limited our onsite consumption to snacks and drinks at the pool, and a late night Sambuca at the bar.

Sedona

The creekside room # 2 was awesome and highly recommend - all service employees were great - transportation to other locations was less than perfect but that’s the only negative —

Check in w front desk for duck food and meet some new friends !! Elizabeth the bartender is awesome and will make you feel like long term friends within minutes

Be cautious on jeep tour suggestions unless ion like super rough rides

Loved Sedona!

This place was amazing! We enjoyed staying in a Creekside Cottage, overlooking Oak Creek. Our cottage had a hot tub (only one on property) on the deck, comfortable outdoor seating, a working “real” wood fireplace inside, and a nice large room with outdoor shower. The food at Cress on Oak Creek was fabulous. We both enjoyed filets one evening, which were out of this world. The breakfast each morning was also great. The omelettes and coffee were very good, and even the coffee in the room was delicious. Great service, staff was exceptional, and housekeeping was over the top. Did not use the spa, but the pool was very nice. Overall stay was lovely. Great hiking around town, exceptional restaurants (Mariposa, Cress on Oak Creek (on site), Elote Cafe, and Agave 89 were wonderful!). Would definitely visit again.

L’Auberge Sedona - avoid at all costs

My recent stay at this hotel was absolutely terrible, and I would not recommend it to anyone. From the moment we checked in, it was clear that the standards of this hotel were far below acceptable. First, the air conditioning in our room was completely non-functional, making it impossible to stay there comfortably. When we brought this issue to the attention of the staff, they were incredibly rude and unhelpful. Instead of offering a reasonable solution, the only option they gave us was to downgrade to a lesser room without any possibility of receiving a refund, since the rate had already been paid through Inspirato.

The lack of customer service was shocking. Rather than trying to resolve the situation with some level of empathy or professionalism, the staff essentially left us with no choice but to either accept the downgrade or leave without any compensation. We were left feeling frustrated and upset, so we decided to leave and not stay at the hotel at all.

To make matters worse, Inspirato, completely abandoned us that night. They offered no support or alternative options, leaving us stranded with no hotel accommodations. We had to scramble to make our own last-minute reservations elsewhere, adding unnecessary stress to our trip.

Overall, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a hotel. The lack of working amenities, rude and dismissive staff, and the complete failure of both the hotel and Inspirato to take care of their guests is inexcusable. Avoid this hotel and think twice before booking hotels through Inspirato.
