Location

Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) is located at the southern end of St. Lucia, about 1.5 hours from Cap Maison. A number of airlines service UVF and offer direct flights from major cities.

Your concierge can arrange for private transportation or taxi service between the resort and the airport, as well as to sites around the island. Alternatively, a rental car is a good option if you plan to venture off on your own frequently—we recommend renting a car through Club partner Avis. Note that driving is on the left side of the road and you may be required to purchase a temporary permit for a nominal fee.

Good, but not great

The views are beautiful, and we loved seeing the mountains of St. Lucia. The people who work here are lovely and accommodating, and the food is good. However, it's really not meant for children. I wish Inspirato had steered us in a different direction, knowing we were traveling with our 10 and 12-year-olds. Cap Maison would be very nice for a couple who didn't want to do many excursions or families with older children.

We stayed in a Two-bedroom Oceanview Villa with Roof Pool & Terrace. The bedroom looked like the pictures, but the living area was slightly different. The roof pool and terrace were significantly smaller than the pictures show. We had seating, but it was quite cramped and needed more shade. There was no hammock on the terrace, as shown in the photos, and the pool was small (approx. 6' x 6'). There is a washer and dryer on the patio, which was nice to have.

The drive from the airport is 2 hours by car, and it is twisty mountain roads. Once you hit Castries (the capital), there is also a lot of traffic, which can add time to your drive. It also wasn't particularly scenic, other than the banana plantations.

We found that many excursions are near Soufrière, towards the south part of the island. Cap Maison is far to the north. This made excursions take quite a while. Either you're on a boat the entire day or two hours each way for a car ride. We did like the volcano and mud baths, but 4 hours on the mountain roads was a lot. The zip-lining was much closer, and we all had fun doing that.

The beach is lovely, but it's a cove, so no long walks on the beach are possible. The sunsets are beautiful, and they do have snorkel gear, kayaks, etc., to rent out, but not motorized activities (i.e., jet skis).

The food is very good at the resort. Breakfast was at The Cliff every morning, and the only downside was that the menu stayed the same during our stay. We liked The Naked Fisherman for lunch and dinner. Spinnakers restaurant, off the resort, was our favorite. It was casual, on the beach, had great food, and the staff was really nice. We had the same driver each night we went off the resort, and he said to beware if you come to St. Lucia during cruise season (October-April) because the restaurants get inundated with cruise passengers, bringing the quality down. We didn't have any cruise ships dock during our stay.

The resort is quiet. We had a few issues (upon arrival, my children found a pair of men's underwear in a potted plant on our terrace from the previous guest). The staff quickly fixed anything that came up and answered all our questions.

The gym is nice. I only used the treadmill, but there is a bike, weights, and yoga mats.

Cap Maison is not for anyone living with mobility issues. There are first-floor rooms, but the beach (and The Naked Fisherman restaurant) takes 92 stairs to get up and down.

We had the chef's BBQ dinner in our room one night, and it was good, but it was a ton of food. We saved some and ate it for lunch the next day.

One issue had occurred before our arrival and had happened before when we stayed at Inspirato Resorts (vs. Inspirato Homes). The pre-planning gets very tedious with the resort concierge. So many emails because several people are working the concierge desk. Our Inspirato team is copied on every single email, but they never chimed in or sent us an email with our itinerary or condensed anything said. It's hard because the Inspirato home concierge experiences have been great for us, but Inspirato lacks customer service with resort stays because they assume the resort concierge is doing as good of a job as their employed concierges do.

Overall, Cap Maison is small, quiet, and has beautiful views.
