7 Days in New Zealand with Inspirato

New Zealand is one of the world’s hottest travel destinations, drawing more than 3.4 million international visitors in 2016. The country truly offers something for everyone: towering glacial mountains, tropical rainforests, bustling urban cities, ancient culture, and so much more.

Traveling to this rich, diverse destination is best experienced with Inspirato’s custom, seven-day itinerary, taking place March 25-April 1, 2017. For active explorers, culture seekers, and everyone in between, the Inspirato experience is an ideal way to see the best of New Zealand. The club specifically designed its itinerary with children age 6 and above in mind, so even small travelers can join the adventure.

New Zealand is one of the most geographically stunning and exciting locations I’ve ever traveled to. I found that New Zealand holds a special place on my list of locations that I would return to time and time again.

The journey begins in Auckland, the country’s most populous city and a world-class urban center. True to New Zealand’s character, the city is also an epicenter for local culture, so Inspirato is kicking off the experience with a canoe voyage to Rototi Island, a sacred Maori site, for an authentic welcome barbecue.

On members’ second and final day in Auckland, we’re heading offshore again, this time to Waiheke Island (pictured below), voted the fourth-best island on Earth by Condé Nast Traveler readers. Members can participate in activities like archery and live-action role playing before experiencing the island’s booming wine scene over lunch at an award-winning winery.

From Auckland, the next destination on Inspirato’s itinerary is Queenstown, dubbed the “Adventure Capital of the World.” Over the next several days, members have plenty of opportunities to see for themselves just how Queenstown earned its reputation.

Among the highlights is an exhilarating helicopter ride over iconic Milford Sound, eventually ending on another nearby peak for a picnic lunch and Inspirato’s own member golf challenge. On the final full day of the experience, members will have one last adrenaline rush on the Dart River, first on a fast-paced jet boat then in inflatable kayaks.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an Inspirato vacation without excellent accommodations along the way. In Auckland, members stay at SKYCITY Grand Hotel (below, left), located in the heart of the city, while in Queenstown, the Spire Hotel hosts members between adventurous activities. Both are beautiful, acclaimed properties and among the best lodging in town.

Inspirato Experiences are a unique way to travel with the club outside of our amazing portfolio of residences, hotels, and resorts. Our collection of experiences includes everything from Mediterranean cruises and Arctic expeditions to exclusive access at top sporting events – all supported by the expert care and service members expect from any Inspirato vacation.
