Location

Inspirato SoHo at The Dominick is located approximately 40 minutes from any of the three major New York airports: LaGuardia (LGA), John F. Kennedy (JFK), or Newark (EWR). Travelers from East Coast cities such as Boston, Providence, New Haven, or the Washington D.C. areas can also travel by train to Penn Station, which is only two miles from the hotel. We do not recommend driving in New York; the city’s extensive public transportation system and abundance of taxis make getting around without a car easy. Even better, your hotel is located in the heart of Lower Manhattan with endless restaurants, shops, galleries, and activities within walking distance, and an easy cab or subway ride to world-famous New York locales Times Square, Broadway, Central Park, Wall Street, and the One World Trade Center.

Great staff, average location

We booked this trip last minute, and so we were limited in our options of where to stay... We normally stay in Midtown, but there were no rooms available in those properties, so we selected the Dominick.

The hotel staff was great, but this location was not our favorite... We stayed in the two bedroom penthouse, which was fine but by no means extravagant... But the room covered all of the basics well...

The neighborhood surrounding the hotel was a mix of residential and small businesses... The small shops were hit or miss, but we really enjoyed two of the restaurants nearby -- King and Le Cou Cou...

Overall, no real complaints with the property, but unlikely to stay there again...

Spacious but a bit dated

The Jr. penthouse was spacious and had beautiful views over the Hudson. Staff at the hotel were great - patient, professional, and accomodating. The bathrooms are a bit dated - we had to call engineering at 11:30 pm to turn off the vanity lights because (per the engineer) the light switch "goes to sleep" and stops working. But biggest issue was the elevator situation. Only four cars for 40+ floors, and the "optimizing" control system led to 20-minute waits to get an elevator down from room floor and long lines in the elevator bank to go up. Almost missed a brunch reservation due to excessive wait for a car to lobby. Plan accordingly/

Beautiful Suite in SoHo

The Dominick Hotel never disappoints! The Astor Junior Penthouse is a spacious 2-bedroom suite with gorgeous views of the city. The location is perfect for shopping, dining and sightseeing. Staff at the property are incredibly friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Christmas in NYC

Overall, we had a wonderful time on our trip. The location of this hotel is perfect, with great access to SoHo and AMAZING views to the west of the Hudson River and New Jersey, and to the north of uptown. I'm not sure there's a better view in the city. The amount of space you get is incredible, two bedrooms with full bathroom each and a nice living space with a powder bath. We traveled with two kids (10 and 12) and having their own bedroom and bathroom made things so much more peaceful, and we enjoyed the living space during downtimes after spending all day out in the craziness of the city. The details/furniture of the room are nice, but a bit tired. There are dated features, like TVs in the bathrooms and phones in the water closets. Some of furniture is dinged up a bit, but in exchange for the location and views, it was totally fine, it still felt like a luxury hotel room and again, the views! Every time you walk out of the hotel, you are steps away from some of the greatest shopping and best neighborhoods in the world. We didn't take the subway, but there is a stop within a block. There is a CVS across the street if you forget something.

Now for the explanation of why 4 stars and not 5... The housekeeping left a lot to be desired. There was trash from a previous guest in one of the mini bar cabinets that we found right away - sugar packets, stir stick for coffee, etc. and that trash remained in the cabinet for several days. Later in the trip we also found some coins (from another country so we know they weren't ours) in a different drawer in the living space. The hair dryer in the primary bathroom was dirty and it didn't work. I could have checked the other bathroom, but I didn't, as it was raining anyway. I'm new to Inspirato, so it's unclear to me if it was the hotel housekeeping staff or an Inspirato staff that was cleaning the room, but either way, it was not to my expectations for even a mediocre hotel, not to mention a luxury hotel.

I would stay here again. I think that the location, views, and size of room outweighed the multiple housekeeping faux pas, but those issues were disappointing.
