Peacefulness and Luxury Combined

We had an awesome time on Scrub Island. What a great experience and nice amenities. All eight of us were blown away by the beauty and peacefulness that we expeirenced while on the island.

Spectacular Island (room for improvement)

While Scrub Island is BEAUTIFUL and you certainly get a great workout with all the hills for walking, we knew going in from friends who are also Inspirato members that of all the destinations, this one is "not Inspirato quality." They assured us all the other destinations and service would be top notch. I will preface our own individual experience with the fact that the staff on sight was always very quick to fix things.

here is our list of things that were not great.

1) Ants in the kitchen (counters included) YOU CANNOT LEAVE ANY FOOD OUT, it must be in zip lock bags or in the refrigerator.

2) Kitchen was not properly stocked (no cooking oil and some basic spices.) Just be aware if you are planning on having groceries there to cook, they are VERY costly (completely expected on an island) and the size of what you get is small so make sure to let them know up front the amount you want of things.

3) There was no hand soap anywhere in the house. Just bars of Irish Spring (which to me is bathing soap).

4) No dish towels in the kitchen

5) No dishwasher tabs

6) There were no cleaning supplies to be found when we wanted to clean up after using the kitchen and the glass table after eating at it.

7) Obviously with a view like this you want to leave doors open to get the fresh breeze from the ocean, DO NOT, the fly's and bugs will come in.

8) If you decide to go hiking take water with you. We hiked to the lookout point and the insulated cooler that is supposed to have water did not. We notified them and when we went up the next day, still not water.

9) The cleaning crew came in to clean in the afternoon, when we just got back to the house at 1:30. They really should clean when they know you are on an excursion and away from the home. Additionally, they came in and did a very quick (not good job) They were in and out in 20 minutes. It needed a good cleaning as there were a lot of us there. Additionally, they completely missed and did not clean one of the rooms not in the main villa.

10) The water system for showers is bad. There is either no hot water (freezing to shower is not fun) or 10 minutes in scorching hot.

11) There are no hooks in the bathrooms to hang wet towels or bathrobes

12) When we hired the private chef to come in the gas cooktop in the house ran out of gas mid-cooking. This should have been checked either prior to us coming or prior to the chef experience that day. The chef was flustered and ended up having to use the BBQ outside. Dinner that night was served later then we wanted because of this. While the private chef was AMAZING and so personable and he and his assistant did clean up the counters and the stuff he used for cooking, the floors in the kitchen were left a mess and the garbage was overflowing (remember the ant issue at the beginning of this review... yep was a problem)

13) There were no napkins we had to use paper towel for our meals.

14) FLYS a huge problem

15) We went down to the hotel to print up our boarding passes to leave and the printer was broken. They had to print on the front desk printer instead

16) When our friends who arrived a day later than the rest of the group arrived at the airport, even though we had given all the flight info there was no driver to take them to the ferry.

With all of this said, every single one of these issues was reported to our concierge immediately. Some issues could be resolved immediately (like bringing us hand soap) others could not. But they do get an A+ for their immediate response time. Unfortunately, many of these issues should have never happened to begin with at an Inspirato property.

Amazing Views from the Villa

We stayed at the Hibiscus Villa and invited 5 couples to join us. The views are the best thing about the house! Amazing views of the ocean and surrounding islands. Murali and his team do a great job with pre-planning and during the visit to make sure your requests and needs are met. Areas for improvement, which we've shared with the team, is the kitchen - certain areas of it need a refresh and complete review to ensure completeness. The watersports beach had broken items that were not in use and took awhile to get fixed and found the same thing in the sports gym. We used a free service that Riteway Grocery Store provides - they pick you up at the ferry, drive you to Riteway, wait for you while you shop, box your groceries and alcohol for you an return to the ferry for non charge. We found that out on our own and loved the service, tipping the driver as he was so helpful! Simply call ahead to schedule.

exquisite

This home is spectacular, so much that we came back to enjoy it for a second time. Its access to the resort and the spa is a plus. Its breathtaking views and its layout are wonderful! In addition to, if you come to Scrub Island, BVI you must experience a spectacular dinner during sunset, personally prepared by Chef Davide Pugliese in his Wali Nikiti House We felt honored, and are most grateful. Thank you Davide Pugliese for making my dad’s 80th birthday celebration extra special!

Great Experience

We had a wonderful time! The Scrub Island staff was fabulous and we could not have asked for better service. Murali was so attentive to all of our needs and made the trip. The sunset trip at the top of the mountain is a must! Chef Allister prepared two meals at the house for us and they were phenomenal. That is a must on this trip. Chef Davide was so gracious to allow us into his home for a private meal and it was the best! This is a great property with wonderful service.
