7 of the Best Ski Resorts to Visit This Winter

This winter, embrace the cold and plan a ski vacation to a winter wonderland. Explore seven of our favorite ski resorts to visit across the U.S., known for their incredible terrain, stunning scenery, and charming mountain towns. Plus, you can find gorgeous Inspirato mountain homes near all of them, just waiting to welcome you on your cozy alpine retreat.

Aspen Mountain, Colorado

To be close to the slopes, stay at three-bedroom Copper Gulch, located at the base of Aspen Mountain, just steps away from incredible skiing and restaurants. Or Maroon Creek, located near the base of Aspen Highlands. For a larger group, Bear Paw is of our larger homes in Aspen and offers a secluded feel close to downtown.

Big Sky Resort, Montana

The blissfully quiet slopes of Big Sky Resort make up the second-largest ski resort in the U.S., with 6,000 acres of skiable terrain and 300 runs across four mountains. Thanks to its monumental annual snowfall (400 inches), you can pretty much count on fresh snow for your ski vacation. It’s also one of the more luxurious resorts on the IKON Pass where you can really get your bang for your buck.

Inspirato members can cozy up at Lone Peak Lodge, boasting a private hot tub and deck with sweeping mountain views. It’s also a short walk from skiing at Moonlight Basin. Nearby, you can ski-in and ski-out from secluded Woodrose, surrounded by a mature pine forest. You can also get ski-in, ski-out access at the contemporary standalone home Obsidian. Newly-built Saddleridge is located just a short walk to downtown Big Sky with five bedrooms and its own hot tub.

Deer Valley Resort, Utah

Snowboarders beware, this resort is one of few ski-only mountains left. If you happen to be a skier, Deer Valley is a posh resort just outside of Park City offering skiable 2,026 acres and 101 runs. IKON passholders receive limited access to this upscale resort nestled in the Wasatch Mountains.

Inspirato members can enjoy access to the Montage Deer Valley for a luxe winter getaway with premier ski-in, ski-out access. Inspirato also offers numerous residences in Deer Valley, like Royal Lookout, a four-bedroom home with private hot tub, home theater, and valley views. Members can enjoy ski-in, ski-out access at the Stein Eriksen residences, including three-bedroom Ski Haven.

Jackson Hole Ski Resort, Wyoming

Consistently ranked among the top ski resorts in the U.S., Jackson Hole is known for its legendary expert terrain. Here you’ll find 500 acres of terrain across two mountains—Après Vous and Rendezvous—with a vertical drop of 4,139 feet. If you have the IKON pass, you can enjoy access to limited days at the resort. A small town in the heart of mountain country, Jackson Hole offers a relaxed vibe, breathtaking mountain scenery, and miles of open space—perfect for an unforgettable winter getaway.

Inspirato members can revel in the scenery from spacious, five-bedroom Bison Ridge—a member favorite for its creekside hot tub and prime location. For direct ski access, three-bedroom Traverse is situated right at the base of Jackson Hole.

Steamboat Resort, Colorado

A ski vacation to Steamboat, Colorado, promises an unforgettable adventure. Renowned for its one-of-a-kind, open aspen glades that perfectly stash its legendary Champagne Powder®, Steamboat boasts some of the best tree skiing in North America. It is also known to be one of Colorado’s most family-friendly resorts—kids under 12 ski free with the purchase of a five-or-more day adult lift ticket. And IKON passholders get unlimited access to the resort.

Stay with Inspirato near the slopes at Sundial, a modern mountain home conveniently located near the gondola at the base of Steamboat Resort. Stetson and Howler offer easy access to Wildhorse Gondola, just minutes from downtown Steamboat. Or settle in at Sugar Ridge—a skier’s paradise with living room fireplace, private deck with hot tub, and ski access right out the back door of the home.

Stowe Mountain Resort, Vermont

Surrounded by majestic Mount Mansfield—the highest peak in Vermont—Stowe Mountain Resort offers 116 trails on 485 skiable acres. If you have the Epic pass, you can enjoy unlimited skiing and riding at this idyllic northeast gem.

Visit Stowe with Inspirato (and bring up to 11 of your friends) at Sterling, a two-story home with a private balcony boasting Mt. Mansfield views, cozy fireplace, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Or opt for three-bedroom Ridgeview, with an inviting living room and stone-framed fireplace. Both offer access to a heated outdoor swimming pool and spa at the Lodge at Spruce Peak—Stowe’s only ski-in, ski-out access lodging.

Vail Resort, Colorado

Vail is one of the most well-known and largest alpine resorts in the world with 5,317 acres of skiable terrain that Epic passholders get unlimited access to explore. And charming Vail Village is equally as impressive as the mountain, with heated cobblestone streets reserved for pedestrians only, Bavarian-inspired architecture, twinkling lights, and high-end après and dining options. Strolling the streets on a cold winter night feels like walking through a living storybook.

Vail is Inspirato’s biggest mountain destination in the portfolio. Right near the gondola, in the heart of Vail, are 20 luxury condos at Solaris (like Après Vous), ranging from two to six bedrooms. For a modern mountain escape, stay at Juniper—a five-bedroom home nestled in the trees overlooking the Gore Creek with ample outdoor space.
