Location

You'll fly into Geneva Airport (GVA), which is serviced by most major airlines. Free public transportation from the airport to the center of the city is available but we advise renting a car to fully enjoy what the area has to offer. Should you choose to forgo a rental car, taxis are available and it's very easy to explore Geneva by tram and bus. Additionally, La Réserve provides complimentary seasonal boat service to the city center via luxury motoscafo. Talk to your hotel concierge about the best transportation options during your vacation.

Middle of Nowhere and terrible service

We were excited to stay here as home base as we were planning to drive to several places from Geneva. I was a little skeptical looking on Google Maps and seeing virtually no restaurants near the hotel. We decided to proceed. The hotel is in a park like setting, however there are constant airplanes going right over head as the Geneva airport is very close by. When we checked in, we had an Executive Room booked. We were immediately told we were upgraded to a better room. As the desk agent showed us to the room, we walked and walked for awhile. We had told her we would love a nice quiet room. Well she opens the door and if this was an upgrade, I would hate to see what we supposed to be in. An average size room, with a small couch. Then the drapes were opened and we were literally looking at a bright white dome. Our best guess was that it was an indoor tennis facility?? As we settled in around 4 pm, we decided to unpack some things. That is when the next problem happened. The room next door has loud music playing and several people enjoying them seIves. We decided to call the front desk to see if either another room would be available or if they could come speak with the people. The noise only grew louder as the hotel did nothing to help. By us calling early, my wife even said, we would like to head off a problem instead of having to deal with it at 11pm or later. The front desk did nothing that we could tell at that time.

We then decided to go drive around and explore some and try to find some dinner. Neither restaurant sounded appealing at the hotel especially at the elevated prices Switzerland is known for. We were prepared for some expensive meals, but these 2 places were obscene, We then drove to the north from the hotel, checking Google Maps and Yelp for restaurants near the hotel and lake which is mainly residential. We drove around for 30 minutes and only saw a small Italian restaurant that did not have one person in it. Disappointed, we headed back to the Hotel and munched on a couple Baguettes that we bought that morning in Chambery, France at an amazing market.

As we settled into bed, noise from next door was still there, maybe not as loud, but there. It was at that point, we decided to cut our stay in Geneva short to just this one night, After a restless night of interrupted sleep, we called to have our bags picked up and check out. The person at the front desk asked why we were leaving, we had booked 3 nights here and all we said was, your inactions told us enough and we are changing our plans. Not an "Oh I'm sorry or what can we do". We then waited a few minutes for our luggage to come out to our rental car, par for course with this place.

We were really bummed by this experience. If you want to be in the middle of nowhere, it is a pretty setting by the way, then this is the place for you. If you want to be upgraded to a room that you are staring a big white dome, not the park like setting you had assumed you would be looking at, then this is the place for you. If you enjoy constant planes flying all day and night long over head, then this the place for you. And finally, if you want to be in room where there is loud noise and where the management appeared to do nothing, then head to LaReserve and buckle up for a rough stay.

La Réserve

Hotel staff is incredible. Concirege went out of the way to make the stay memorable and provide us recommendations. The room was fantastic with a view of Lake Geneva

Location!

Select a room with a view of the lake in the main building and dine on the outside patio. Service was great and the Michelin-starred Asian restaurant was a wonderful experience. The transportation to Geneva by boat was easy and quite fun. The location is quite near the airport and also CERN, if you are into science!

Excellent service

we stayed here for three nights while looking at boarding schools for my son. The service was impeccable, we enjoyed the luxurious spa which was well needed after flying several hours. The highlight of the hotel for my teenage son was the breakfast every morning where they have a beautiful buffet and a variety of choices. The decor is very elegant with a Safari style theme. Staff was helpful and extremely accommodating and professional. You do need to take a car to get to the city center but it’s a quick uber or cab.
