We have stayed in the Villas at La Cantera twice now with our very small children.

We visited Jun 2019 and Feb 2020.

The villas are privately located within the resort with its own drive-up entrance with valet. Being that you are removed from the main resort, each villa comes with its own golf cart to get to resort attractions. You also have access to on demand shuttle service not only within the resort, but also to nearby restaurants and attractions.

The staff and housekeeping are great. They let my daughter pick out a toy to keep with each stay. There is a small bar with snacks available to purchase in the Villa clubhouse.

Rooms are quite spacious and have a small table which is nice from in-room dining and doubles as a work space if needed. Plenty of room for play space for kids as well as crib. During our summer visit they provided smores. Nespresso in the room is always appreciated. Small bar area with a fridge.

On-site dining: Did not have great luck with room service on either visit, will not do it again. Fresh pressed juices at the spa are great to start the day. We had pool side lunch twice Primmer Cantina. Sweet Fire was very good for dinner. We have not dined at Signature as you need to make reservations in advance.

Off-site dining: We always utilize the on demand shuttle service to get to nearby restaraunts. Uni'ko is some of the best sushi in the country. Piatti has a nice patio and delicious Italian.

My husband really enjoyed golf at the palmer course. When checking into the Villas they will hold your clubs for you. They provide shuttle service to the links.

Villa was not reserved

Our villa was only booked as a regular king bedroom. So our daughters had to get a separate room on the other side of the hotel. The first room they gave us was only available one night so we had to switch rooms which required us waiting 40 min in the check- in line for a 2nd time. And instead of a patio with a beautiful view, we got to look at a rooftop.

Second, I booked a facial for my daughter for her birthday. We planned to spend a couple of hours using the spa amenities but when we got there, they told us I have to be in the room with her and we can't use any amenities because she isn't 18.

We never would have booked this hotel if we were told this information prior to our arrival. The concierge didn't even know, she just said she had to be 15. Needless to say this has not been the Birthday weekend we were was hoping for.

Texas Resort Getaway

Just got back from La Cantera in San Antonio and was happily impressed. The staff at the resort (especially Ana) were helpful and the accommodations were nice. One restaurant, Signature, was very good and a must if you are there. The other restaurants were more typical and met the basic needs, but since you are in a city, I suggest getting out to the different areas for some local food. The golf courses were amazing, and not crowded, and were the highlight of the trip. The spa was also very good, and if you stay at the villas, you can drive you own golf cart over to the spa for a treatment or to just use the facilities. Overall, it was a great place for a quick long-weekend getaway.
