The Con Dao archipelago is an untouched chain of 16 islands. Light in tourist traffic and protected as a marine and national park, Con Dao amazes with pristine natural beauty. The area's crystal-clear waters are home to more than 1,400 marine species, making this the best SCUBA and snorkeling destination in Vietnam. The beaches are silky and white. You can leave for catamaran sailing, fishing trips and night dives right from the resort, and each villa includes a private infinity pool. Your agenda on this part of the journey need not include anything more than Six Senses amenities, as your personal butler will see to it that you can completely relax.
Instead of swimming, let the calm breezes do the work for you. Your butler can arrange for a Hobie catamaran so that you can sail in peace past lazy fishing boats and toward the horizon, where the sky and sea seem to become one.
Both Green and Hawksbill sea turtles come to Con Dao to nest on the island's 13 beaches from May to October. This is the only place in Vietnam where the turtles enjoy full National Park protection. Kids love to see these turtles.
Head away from the beach into town and find an exciting and unique activity: hiking in a tropical rainforest. You can reach the So Ray Plantation, Ong Dung Bay and possibly encounter long-tailed macaques and black squirrels.
Local expert Captain Thien has fished the waters around Con Dao for moer than 25 years and his traditional, simple fishing boat is the best choice for finding a fresh catch. The scenery is spectacular too.
There are dozens of options for the younger set, from finger painting and sandcastle building to volleyball and badminton for the older kids. They can also enjoy arts and crafts, beach and ocean activities and much more.
The beach called Bai Nhat only appears in the afternoon, during low tide. It's lovely, to say the least, and includes numerous boulders where you can sit to watch the sun disappear behind Love Peak.
Protected as a national and marine park, Con Dao is also relatively light in tourist traffic. The beaches are pearly white, the waters a translucent blue. Better still, Six Senses Con Dao enjoys a secluded locale, allowing you to truly get away from it all.
If you want to travel to this part of the world, we recommend taking full advantage. Experience the cultural opportunities at Ninh Van Bay and then escape to the islands of Con Dao, with a Ho Chi Minh City stopover in between.
As with every Six Senses resort, you'll find a commitment to a crafted guest experience during your stay here. This includes personalized butler service, award-winning spa treatments and keen attention to detail.
Every purchase of Crystal Water from the By the Beach Restaurant sees 50 percent of the proceeds go to the resort's Crystal Water system that will be implemented at the local preschool and kindergarten.
The islands of the Con Dao archipelago are characterized as having a tropical monsoon climate. You'll see the most rain from April through October, but temperatures and conditions tend to be beautiful year-round thanks to cooling sea breezes.
