Location

You'll fly into Florence Airport, Peretola (FLR), which is about 6 miles from Portrait Firenze. From the U.S., you'll connect via Paris, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt or another major European city. There are also direct flights into Pisa's Galileo Galilei Airport, about 60 miles west of Florence.

You won't need a car in this destination; in fact, tourists generally can't even drive within the city limits. Fortunately, you'll stay in the heart of the city, where you can walk to many attractions. For something a little farther, such as a trip to Chianti country, your hotel concierge can arrange for a driver. You'll also be conveniently close to the rail station, and we highly recommend making an easy day trip to Pisa, Venice or Rome.

The Only place to stay in Florence!

After traveling all over Northern Italy, arriving at this hotel was quite amazing. The level of service received throughout our stay in addition to the beautiful suite and cozy restaurant is second to none. The location and view are perhaps the best in town. Close to all the sights and high end shopping.

If you are driving in with a car, I would highly recommend getting instructions from the hotel, as it can be very difficult. Navigation systems can’t do it.

We will be back!

fabulous hotel and food

The hotel lifestyle team was great and arranged everything. The rental car company delivered the car to the hotel for our drive to Tuscany . We traveled with another couple and they upgraded both of use to suites that were supper nice .. the two guided tours we took were also great. We found out that this hotel was owned by the Ferragamo group …..excellent food and drinks ….fantastic view of the famous Gold Bridge in Florence.

An (almost) perfect 4 days in Florence

The Hotel Portrait Firenze experience was very probably my best ever hotel visit. The hotel is super stylish, elegant and cool (owned by the Ferregamo family) , is in a perfect location just steps away from the Ponte Vecchio, with a truly exceptional level of friendly, detailed and attentive service. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble, and their ability to arrange access to exclusive restaurants and venues, even outside of Florence, was outstanding. A beautiful one bedroom suite with a river view was our base.

One word of caution however, the Inspirato site displays a balcony and river view bathroom with this suite and we didn't have either... When I rang Inspirato I was set aback, to say the least, to be told that I needed to "look at the small print, which says not all rooms have the same orientation". I get that, but it's a littler galling as the absence of things is not the same as the orientation of them. Inspirato is a luxury travel club, not Expedia or Airbnb, and such comments are far less than members rightly should expect... This is the one time Inspirato has left me feeling disappointed.. Unfortunate and unexpected.
