Location

Vacationing in Zermatt is well worth the journey. You will most likely fly into Geneva Airport (GVA), Milan-Malpensa Airport (MXP) or Zurich Airport (ZRH). These are the nearest major airports and are located approximately three to four hours away by train.

Zermatt is car-free, so you will not be able to drive to your hotel, but transportation is included in your reservation. From the airport, you can drive or take a train to the village of Täsch, about 3 miles north of Zermatt. If you drive or take a private car, you must park your vehicle or be dropped off in Täsch. From there, it's a quick train ride aboard the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn to Zermatt station. The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn also offers direct service to Zermatt station from the towns of Brig and Visp, about 19 to 24 miles away.

A representative from the hotel will meet you at Zermatt station and escort you to the hotel via horse-drawn carriage or bus. This transfer is complimentary, but please note that train tickets are not included in your reservation and must be purchased separately. Your concierge will be happy to provide detailed instructions and make arrangements for you. A public taxi from Täsch is available upon request, but please note that additional charges apply.

Zermatt is small and very pedestrian-friendly and your hotel is located right in its heart. If you do not want to walk, there are a few transportation options in town including electric buses and shuttles. Ask your concierge for more information.

Switzerland. Does not get much better

The hotel was old school charm but modern flair. We had the best time. The staff really went all out for us. Laszlo Hevesy was absolutely a rock star. Walked us to restaurants helped us with transfers etc. Always always there for us even when he was off the clock.

The cute little piano bar with a great singer was unexpected and quite entertaining.

We appreciated the location of the hotel with respect to the mountain and all the activities.

Loved our stay at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof

The room was well-appointed with everything we needed. We had a beautiful view on the corner of the hotel, the Matterhorn right overhead. The staff is excellent, helpful and so friendly. We also enjoyed the food we ate at the hotel (breakfasts (included) and dinners). Our favorite hike was hiking to Trifft and eating at the cafe high up in the mountains.
