Gateway to Rocky Mountain Skiing and Hiking

Tucked away in the Rocky Mountains less than two hours from Denver, Winter Park is the perfect outdoorsy escape. Surrounded by the Arapaho National Forest and three wilderness areas, Winter Park is home to the longest continually operated ski resort in the entire state. This year-round destination also offers mild temperatures in the summer for those looking for a respite from the heat for hiking and mountain biking. The less-frequented west entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is a short drive away, as is Lake Granby, the third-largest body of water in the state, known among fly fishermen for its abundance of trout and salmon.

Winters are snowy and cold, which is why locals and visitors alike flock to the area for skiing and snowboarding. While highs are usually around 30°F in the winter, it gets very cold at night, often down to single digits.
