Surrounded by the Arapaho National Forest and three wilderness areas, Winter Park is home to the longest continually operated ski resort in the entire state.     Like most Rocky Mountain towns, Winter Park is cold in the winter and mildly warm in the summer—an elevation of 8,000 to 9,000 feet keeps the highs typically in the mid- to upper-70s. Winters are snowy and cold, which is why locals and visitors alike flock to the area for skiing and snowboarding. While highs are usually around 30°F in the winter, it gets very cold at night, often down to single digits.
