Location

The best option is to fly into Kona International Airport (KOA). Most major airlines service this airport. You may also want to explore flying into Hilo International Airport (ITO) or Honolulu International Airport (HNL), which then requires a quick commuter flight to the Big Island.

So that you can be flexible in exploring the wide range of diverse, unique activities on the Big Island, we recommend renting a car. Club partner Avis is your best option, and your Destination Concierge is always happy to discuss options.

One of our favorite places!

This is a great house at a great location. Our destination concierge, El, was fantastic. Highly recommend the whale watching, night snorkel with the manta rays, and the helicopter tour.

Fabulous OceanFront Home in KONA/Waikoloa

I owned two different residences in Hualalai Resort Kona from 1999-2008. The Inspirato Hale Kai residence, from a previous resident's experience is one of the best properties to live-in if you do not own a property in Kona. It has it ALL; unbelievable views from Mountains, Beach to Ocean white caps; from sunrise over the mountains to sunsets over the ocean; absolutely everything an Island paradise home should be. To purchase this home in today's market in Kona would be at least $20M. The home itself is beautifully designed for three couples; or a family or in my case for myself! Waikoloa can be touristy, but location of this home is PRIVATE yet with convenience of 3 minute drive to restaurants, shops, groceries, and even a movie theatre! Kona is my spiritual home and Hale Kai will be my physical domicile when I am in Kona again.

Gorgeous view, centrally located & spacious home

The location of this home and the beautiful views from the patio are second to none. Our four boys were absolutely thrilled to have their own pool even though the beach club is two homes down. Walking to Waikoloa Beach takes two minutes. Although Waikoloa Beach doesn't have large waves for surfing or boogie boarding and the water is too murky for snorkeling, the calm waters make for a great place for young kids to enjoy the water. On both sides of the beach there are rocks/small tide pools, and my boys ended up catching more than half a dozen tiny black and white crabs. Highly recommend this home to anyone!

Hawaii 10-0

Great residence, great location. Located in the Waikoloa Resort area (where the action is), this residence is centrally located -- within walking distance to shops, restaurants and entertainment. On the beach, great pool and hot tub. What else could you want? The residence needs some upgrades (carpet), but apparently that will happen soon. Great for couples, for families. We especially enjoyed a meal cooked in the residence by Chef Ippy. Our concierge Kelly was helpful and responsive. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Fabulous trip!

Huge thank you to Kelly and team for a fabulous 11 days at Hale Kai! This house allows for indoor/ outdoor living perfection and was the best home base for exploring the big island. With three kids and 80 year old grandparents in tow, the house was big enough to give everyone plenty of space and also allow for frequent swimming (the pool is heated and beautiful), beach walks (the house is steps from the beach), and great family meals (we had chef Ippy come one night—a must!) The house also comes with a 6 seater red golf cart that was fabulous for little rides to the nearby coffee shops or shave ice store. Kelly helped us plan a really wonderful itinerary that balanced down time, great meals, and adventure. We swam with dolphins, went surfing, snorkeled off of chartered boat, saw manta rays at night, had an astronomer give us a night sky lesson, attended a luau at the Mauna Kea, and had some great meals at lava lava beach club (a favorite!) We also went over to Hilo and Volcano national park, and Kelly found us a guide to really make the most of our time in the tremendous park. So grateful for the experience and would highly recommend this residence to anyone! The waikaoloa location is especially great for exploring north and south of Kona.
